Questions about this letter

More answers in the FAQ, or contact us.

Can the letter cover adjusted duties or a phased return?

Yes, if the doctor considers it appropriate. Choose Adjustments to Work Duties in the questionnaire. The letter gives a doctor's view on a phased return, reduced hours, altered duties or workplace adjustments. Your employer decides how to act on it.

Will my employer accept a private doctor's letter?

Employers set their own evidence rules. Some accept a signed letter from a registered doctor; others ask for an NHS fit note. Check your sickness absence policy or ask HR before you order. HR can also check a letter is genuine online.

Is this the same as an NHS fit note?

No. This is a private doctor's letter, sometimes searched for as a private fit note. It is not issued by the NHS or a GP surgery, and it is not a GP appointment. Your employer decides which evidence it accepts.

The questionnaire takes a few minutes.
